Their numbers being swelled firstly by the growth of Pitlochry as a town and more recently as many people have bought properties in the area, both as holidays homes and for their retirement. The Pub at Moulin has provided them with a quieter, friendlier meeting place, than some of the establishments in the centre of Pitlochry.
Moulin has always resisted the lure of jukeboxes and pool tables, interestingly they were installed in the 80’s and early 1990’s, but this led to the demise of the Pub, and only their removal and a general refurbishment saw the customers return again.
The past 15 years have seem many changes, most noteworthy the setting up of the adjacent Moulin Brewery, the provision of Ales from our very own Brewhouse added a unique ingredient that quickly saw a steady stream of new visitors to the Inn. To their pleasant surprise they found a busy but peaceful Inn, with great tasting beers and a variety of locals to tell them stories, give directions and recommend visits to local attractions.
The Pub refurbishment opened up old fireplaces and beautiful stone walls, that had been hidden for many years. We added lots of cosy niches using wood and beams from the old Coach House ( Now the Brewery), and spread cushions with soft fabrics. The immediate area of the Bar, most popular with the locals, has been refloored, memorabilia added along with a large range of malt whiskies, but otherwise remains as comfortable as ever. The No Smoking rule doesn’t apply to the Log Fires, but has certainly made the Inn a cleaner place to enjoy your food.
We have developed our menus and added a ‘Specials Board’ to reflect seasonal changes.
