The distillery which lays at the gateway to the picturesque Scottish Highlands has won acclaim thanks to its contribution to the Bell’s Blend, which is the most popular blended whisky available in the United Kingdom.
Like most traditional distillery tours, you’ll get the chance to go behind the scenes and see just how the whisky on the site is made from start to finish. You’ll get a first-hand look at how golden malted barley, mixed with water and yeast and then distilled in traditional copper stills is instrumental in the process to make fine whisky. There’s also the chance to see how the whisky is matured, in oak casks and you’ll discover how integral the maturation period is to get it just right.
After you’ve been behind the scenes and seen all the distillery has to offer, you’re going to want a taste of the fine Scottish whisky that is produced on the site, right? The on-site shop won’t disappoint in that respect as you’ll be able to unwind and relax and enjoy a dram.
The location of the distillery is great as there’s a lot to do around Pitlochry. There’s the Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Blair Castle all nearby, as well as the amazing walking opportunities to explore so that you could make a day of it in the area.
